How to connect your Last Mile Delivery Partner with Online Ordering Platforms and your POS system

Learn how MERGEPORT seamlessly connects online ordering platforms, POS systems, and last-mile delivery partners into one automated workflow.

MERGEPORT

Last Update il y a un jour

MERGEPORT allows you to connect online food orders directly to last-mile delivery services (e.g., fleet management platforms or delivery dispatch tools). Instead of manually entering addresses or retyping order details, all incoming orders are sent automatically to your delivery partner — while the order is also transmitted to your POS system in parallel.

This guide explains the benefits, setup process, and how MERGEPORT connects online ordering platforms, delivery services, and POS systems into one automated flow.

Benefits

Eliminate manual work: Incoming online orders are forwarded automatically to your delivery service. No more retyping customer details, delivery addresses, or order notes.

Fewer mistakes: Automated data transfer minimizes human error and ensures drivers receive accurate order information every time.

Faster processing: Orders appear instantly in the delivery management system, allowing dispatchers and drivers to begin the delivery workflow without delay.

Smooth coordination with ordering platforms and POS systems: Delivery services receive the same information that the POS and ordering platforms see — enabling consistent, synchronized workflows across all systems.

Works standalone or with POS integration: Delivery Dispatch can run on its own or in combination with a POS integration, enabling a full end-to-end automated flow (POS ↔ MERGEPORT ↔ Delivery Service).

How to Connect a Last-Mile Delivery Service

All configuration takes place in the MERGEPORT Controller.

  1. Open the Integration Settings

Navigate to the restaurant/site you want to configure.

  2. Add your Delivery Partner

Set a notification URL (callback endpoint) to forward incoming orders to your delivery partner.

  3. Add your ordering platforms

Connect the online ordering platforms that will send orders into MERGEPORT (e.g., Wolt, Uber Eats, Lieferando).

  4. Save the configuration

MERGEPORT automatically validates the setup and activates the connection.

  5. Optional: Send a test order

Trigger a test order from an ordering platform or staging environment to confirm that the delivery partner receives it correctly.

How It Works With Online Ordering Platforms and POS Systems
1. A customer places an order on an online ordering platform

The order is placed on Wolt, Uber Eats, Lieferando, or another connected platform.

2. MERGEPORT receives and normalizes the order

The order is converted into a unified format and assigned to the correct restaurant or venue.

3. The order is forwarded to the delivery service

The delivery dispatch provider receives all required details, including:

  • customer name

  • delivery address

  • phone number

  • items (optional, depending on partner capabilities)

  • delivery notes

  • target preparation time

4. The delivery service manages the delivery workflow

This includes:

  • driver assignment

  • courier notifications

  • route planning

  • pickup instructions

5. Delivery updates flow back to MERGEPORT

As the delivery progresses, the partner returns status updates such as:

  • driver assigned

  • driver arrived

  • picked up

  • out for delivery

  • delivered

6. The order is also sent to the POS (if configured)

MERGEPORT can push the order to the POS system in parallel, ensuring the restaurant can process, print, and prepare the order consistently.

This end-to-end flow ensures that customers receive accurate delivery time predictions and live status updates across all connected systems.

Summary

Connecting a last-mile delivery service through MERGEPORT automates your entire dispatch workflow. Orders flow directly from the ordering platform to your delivery partner, and delivery status information flows back into MERGEPORT — reducing manual work, avoiding mistakes, and speeding up operations.
