Why are address details missing from the order?

Reasons why delivery platforms may not send address or customer information

Short Answer

MERGEPORT forwards all information exactly as we receive it from the ordering platforms.

If a platform does not send address or personal data, we cannot provide this information to the POS system.

Why do platforms sometimes not send address data?

Many delivery platforms do not transmit address or customer details when the delivery is handled by the platform itself (e.g., by Wolt, Uber Eats, or Lieferando couriers).

The reason:

If the platform manages the delivery, the restaurant does not need the customer’s address to fulfill the order.

Platforms therefore intentionally withhold this data — both due to internal policies and for customer privacy.

When are address details included?

Address information is usually provided only when:

  • the restaurant is responsible for the delivery, or

  • the platform allows the restaurant to receive the address in order to fulfill the order.

If the platform’s own couriers handle the delivery, then in most cases:

The address is not shared with the restaurant.

What does this mean for the POS?

  • MERGEPORT always forwards exactly the data we receive.

  • Missing address details are not an integration issue.

  • If no address appears, it is because the platform did not send it.

Important Note

Personal data such as name, phone number, or email may also be withheld in platform-delivered orders.

This is in line with the platforms’ privacy and data protection policies.
