Tablet Mode in the MERGEPORT Controller

How the Tablet Mode works and when it makes sense to use it

MERGEPORT

Last Update 2 months ago

The Tablet Mode is a feature in the MERGEPORT Controller that allows incoming orders to be reviewed and accepted manually, instead of being sent directly to the POS system.

When enabled, orders are displayed in the order overview within the Controller, where users can manually accept, adjust, and process them.

This feature is especially useful for POS systems that do not support dynamic delivery time adjustments, or for setups where the full order workflow should be handled within MERGEPORT.

How does the Tablet Mode work?

When the Tablet Mode is enabled:

  • New orders appear in the order overview of the MERGEPORT Controller.

  • Orders are accepted manually by the user (e.g., by clicking “Accept”).

  • During acceptance, the delivery time can be selected.

  • The selected delivery time is then sent to the POS system automatically.

  • The POS receives only the final, confirmed order.

This allows the POS to focus on its core tasks, while MERGEPORT handles the full order interface and timing management.

Where to find the Tablet Mode

The Tablet Mode can be activated in the Configuration section of each integration inside the MERGEPORT Controller.

Steps:

  1. Go to controller.mergeport.com.

  2. Select the restaurant.

  3. Open Configuration → Integration.

  4. Enable the Tablet Mode toggle.

How to use it in daily operations

The interface can be opened in any modern web browser – perfect for use on a tablet.

To use it:

  1. Grant access to the Controller for the responsible restaurant staff.

  2. Open controller.mergeport.com on a tablet.

  3. When a new order arrives, an audio notification (bell sound) will play.

  4. Orders can be accepted, managed, or completed directly from the order overview.

Important note

The Tablet Mode only affects the internal order flow within MERGEPORT.

It has no connection to the tablet settings of the individual ordering platforms (e.g., Wolt or Lieferando).

These settings remain separate and unaffected.

When should you use Tablet Mode?

Tablet Mode is particularly useful for:

  • POS systems without built-in delivery time adjustments

  • Restaurants that want to manage orders centrally via the Controller

  • Scenarios where the POS should focus on order processing only

  • Demo or test environments to simulate the full order workflow

Benefits at a glance
  • Manual control over order acceptance and delivery times

  • No direct API order injection required

  • Works on any browser and device

  • Audio notifications for new orders

  • Reduces POS complexity by delegating order handling to MERGEPORT
